Go Back 2009 MEAT SKILLS COMPETITION
Spirit of Speyside does the trick as Grantown boys clean up at Meat Skills competition. This year`s Meat Skills competition Finals took place at the Scottish Meat Trades Fair on Sunday 10th May in Perth and winners in both categories came from the same Highland business.
Lee Gilchrist from Greens Fine Meats, Grantown on Spey won the U22 category to become the 2009 Young Scottish Butcher of the Year and his boss, Barry Green the over 22 category to become Scottish Butcher of the Year 2009.

The 2009 competition, sponsored by the Scotch Butchers Club, attracted 25 entrants - 14 in the over 22 and 11 in the under 22 categories.

Two of the entrants were female and one has made it through to the Final in Perth. Kirsty Moore (20) from Scott Brothers in Dundee was the first female ever to compete in our Finals. Well done Kirsty.
